Volunteer

Dry Bones 101

If you are interested in volunteering with Dry Bones, plan to attend a Dry Bones 101 training session.

Prospective volunteers will learn about the realities of those experiencing houselessness in our community, get to know the Dry Bones mission and vision, and hear about the various ways to be involved.

All volunteers who wish to interact with our friends experiencing houselessness on an ongoing basis, what we call Contact Volunteers, are required to attend Dry Bones 101. We offer Dry Bones 101 on a quarterly basis on a Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm. Coffee and lunch are provided during the training.

Dry Bones’ liability insurance requires that all volunteers attend training, complete an application, a background check, and provide references (all details will be shared at Dry Bones 101).

Our valuable team of volunteers is invited into many areas of service throughout the week depending on the current needs of Dry Bones.

We also have many other volunteer needs such as office work, cleaning and organizing, special events, donation drives, and more. Many of these volunteer needs do not require prior attendance at Dry Bones 101. Contact Us to learn more.

More Ways To Help

We are always interested in getting churches, scout troops, schools, and other groups involved in supporting the needs of our friends.

If your group is interested in organizing a drive for Dry Bones, please contact Lauren to ask for our list of current needs as this list changes.

You can also visit our Amazon Wishlist to make a one-time purchase or to organize a purchase drive with your group. When purchasing from our Amazon wishlist, please include a gift receipt with your name and address so we can properly thank you for your generosity.

Your purchase supports our job training at Purple Door Coffee. Purple Door provides coffee for churches, offices, home subscriptions, as well as one-time orders for your home.

If you have new or gently used items such as sleeping bags, backpacks, coats, tarps, and blankets, we can put them to good use. (Please note that we have limited storage space and may not be able to receive all items.)

To see if your items are currently needed and to arrange a drop-off of your donation, please contact Lauren Wertheim here

We would be happy to come speak to your church, rotary club, school, small group, foundation, etc.

Please contact Tami and tell us about your group.

Dry Bones offers many opportunities for you and your group to catch a new vision. Come, see, and discover new inspiration alongside the Dry Bones team.

We offer Turf Tour walks (2.5 hours), short term vision trips (1 to 4 days), weeklong Elevations vision trips for youth groups, and more.

To learn more or ask questions, contact Mark Wilson

Elevations is a six day experience that combines the heights of adventure and contemplation in the wilderness with dynamic depths in the city. We design these trips to be inspiring, educational, fun, and uniquely spiritual – both in the city and the mountains.

Thank you for praying for Dry Bones.  We are so grateful to know that we have your spiritual support. Our prayer energies are usually directed towards:

  • Our friends experiencing houselessness – for their safety, provision, shelter, refreshed hope, and for the whole journey.
  • Dry Bones staff, volunteers, and the large Dry Bones community – for creativity, sustenance, insight, relationship, and an abundance of supernatural Love.
  • The young people participating in our job training program
  • more love, More Love, MORE LOVE!

We use gift cards throughout the year for outings, reward gifts, celebrations, and emergency needs.

We would love to receive gift cards in increments of $5, 10, 20, and 25 to places like:

Walgreens, Kroger/King Soopers, Subway, Chipotle, Target, McDonalds, 7-11, Walmart, etc.

Every year, Dry Bones hires interns to join in the work we do in the Denver community. We hire multiple interns each summer, and are always looking for semester-long or year-long interns as well. Learn more about internships with Dry Bones here
